The Camalot Ultralight from Black Diamond is a double-axle spring-loaded cam for free climbers and trad racers who need the full placement range of the Camalot C4 at 25% less weight per piece. A Dyneema cord replaces the cable stem to cut mass without sacrificing strength, and the double-axle design maintains the widest cam-range-per-size available in a single-trigger piece. Sizes run from #.4 through #4 in seven steps, covering crack widths from 15.5mm at the smallest to 114.7mm at the largest, with weights from 61g (#.4) through 225g (#4). Strength ratings scale from 8kN at #.4, to 10kN at #.5, to 12kN across #.75 through #4. For the climber running a full rack on a long free route or a big wall where every 100 grams across seven cam sizes becomes a pound on the harness, the Camalot Ultralight covers the same crack range as the C4 at weights that make a meaningful difference by the third pitch.
